About Silhouette Established In 1998
Silhouette furniture has been importing and manufacturing weatherproof outdoor and patio furniture for the hospitality and retail sector for over 20 years whilst maintaining a very “hands-on” management style. Our philosophy is to bring a unique customer-orientated approach to the contract marketplace through cost efficient production, uncompromising consistency of quality, and adherence to delivery deadlines.
Silhouette Furniture is known for providing quality, design-orientated leisure furniture to customers such as Legacy Hotels and Resorts, Protea Hotels, Sun International, First Resorts, Hospitality Property Fund, The City Lodge Group, Tsogo Sun and others in the hospitality industry. We furthermore supplied other independently owned establishments in South Africa and across our borders in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Our local facility is based in Mt Edgecombe, Durban and supplies most of our ranges of aluminium furniture. Our factory which manufactures our cane & wicker furniture as well as our range of outdoor teak furniture, is based in Indonesia. Our strengths are our flexibility of design through a large array of finishing options, substantial production capacities and successful meeting of delivery deadlines. We have the capability to produce finished items from drawings and samples. We welcome visits to our factories in Indonesia and China and the transparent development of the customers own designs.
Silhouette Furniture has successfully established itself in the leisure furniture sector and we continue to grow steadily as one of South Africa’s leading outdoor and patio furniture brands.
Silhouette Furniture Social Empowerment Program
For the past 18 years, Silhouette Furniture has been supporting the local community through job creation. We have built up a team from the KZN South Coast, who have been trained and skilled to weave polyethylene rattan. Unwoven frames and materials are delivered to a team leader within the community who will distribute the pieces between the weavers. Once the frames are completed a few days later, they are returned to the Silhouette Furniture premises for quality control processes. Payment is done based on the quantity of items that have been successfully completed.
Because no machinery or electricity is needed for the weaving component of the manufacturing process, it is easy to outsource the work to the community. Being able to support the community through this process have gained mutual respect, a stable income for the weavers and a quality guaranteed product returned to the Silhouette Furniture Factory.
Our weavers are able to earn a steady income without the daily expenses such as travelling costs. This enables them to generate an income without leaving home. Silhouette Furniture is extremely proud to be associated with such a dedicated and motivated team in our community.
