The Story Behind Silhouette Furniture

Anthony’s furniture career goes back to when he bought Osiers (cane retailer) in 1987 which was then bought by Wetherlys in 2000. He stayed on as a director until 2003 and then bought Silhouette Furniture. Silhouette was the main outdoor furniture supplier to Wetherlys. After Wetherlys closed their doors, Anthony shifted focus towards hospitality and ramping up local production and uplifting communities through weaving programs.

Anthony continued to ride the wave of the furniture industry whilst building up the business over the years.

In 2020, Megan (Anthony’s Daughter) joined Anthony in the business after a lengthy stint in China where she worked in the furniture and textile industries and then coming back to South Africa to work as the Furniture Buyer for a well-known retailer. Megan and Anthony worked closely on both Silhouette and sister company, House of Morgan – Megan worked under Anthony’s wing and was handed down years of experience and was mentored by one of the greats.

Succession plans were in place and the handover from Anthony to Megan had slowly started. Unfortunately, Anthony passed away in March 2024 with a lifetime of knowledge. Megan will continue with both businesses and live out the legacy that Anthony had worked so hard to build up over the decades.

Silhouette will continue to remain the same customer-centric brand that we have always been as well as continue promoting local talent and support surrounding communities.
